I love to see the abstract in the realistic. A good friend described my paintings: "When I am up close to the painting, I see swarms of colors. But, as I draw back, everything drops into place!" I pursue realism with abstraction in my pocket. I love the work of the brush, as it leads the mind into realms of delight and creates rooms of joy. Not a big photo, but a majestic reworking of creation: A simplification of the beauty that regularly surrounds me.
I am painting scenes and scenarios of relative mystery…most people either do not or cannot get out to places that I enjoy visiting. Sometimes the particular paintings are of locations close to home, while others are remote and distant. I suppose the “what” that I love reorders the beautiful, that I might prepare a new beauty.
